This week at the market:

Berry's Produce: The Berrys had a nice assortment of produce including melons, fresh sweet corn, peppers, tomatoes, squash, beets, beans, eggplant and cucumbers.



Bloomers Fresh Cut Flowers: Robin & Elaine had a stunning assortment of potted annuals, cut flowers and herbs.



Lowe's Arlington Farms: Lowe's offerings this week included blueberries, daikon radish, garlic, preserves, cut flowers, tomatoes, herbs, potatoes, cabbage, corn, eggplant, beets & green beans.




Squirrel Hollow Farms: Beth Mills was cheerfully recovering from what was reported as an incredibly successful farm tour last weekend. The County Extension Office organized the tours last Sunday to showcase a number of farms in the area. Squirrel Hollow had as many as 600 visitors during the day-long self-guided tour. Mrs. Mills brought an assortment of her goat milk cheeses, as well as duck eggs.

New Vendors

Hidden Brook Farm: Bobby & James Hill sold assorted locally grown vegetables. We'll get some good pictures of their offerings for next week.

Allen's Farm also had assorted locally grown vegetables. Photos to come next week.

Lowe's Arlington Farms: Lowe's had nearly sold out of their produce by 10:30! This week's offerings included green beans, lettuce, curly kale, spinach, chard, squash, tomatoes, fresh rosemary and jellies.

Lowe's anticipates: more of the same plus sugar snap peas and green peppers.



Lisa: in honor of Memorial Day, Lisa and her kids decorated their booth patriotically. She today baked brownies in addition to her other homemade treats. At her craft table she displayed handbags, beaded jewelry, key chains, and decorative socks!

Lisa anticipates: dressing up like pirates - they're headed to the Hampton Pirate Festival immediately following next week's market.




Anna Diehr: Anna is selling her handmade jewelry (necklaces, bracelets, and earrings) to save money for summer trips and her horse.




Bloomers Fresh Cut Flowers: This week, Robin Seeterlin and Elaine Wood had some beautiful hanging baskets, including one consisting entirely of herbs! Their beautiful bouquets are currently featuring gigantic, sweet smelling peonies. They would like local churches to know that they will provide flowers in bulk for arrangements - just give a little advanced notification (Robin: 804.843.3517 or Elaine: 804.966.9803) and they will have the flowers ready for pickup on Saturday at the market.

Bloomers anticipates: many more cut flowers as the garden is really producing!



Berry's Produce: Barbara and William Berry made their first appearance of the year this week! They quickly sold out of spring onions; their squash and beets were disappearing almost as rapidly.

Berry's anticipates: green peas, salad greens, and turnips.



Squirrel Hollow Farms: Beth Mills had a refrigerator stocked with different varieties of goat cheese. Just a reminder - the cheese is given away for free but customers are encouraged to offer a reasonable donation for it. Also for sale were homemade goat milk soaps and fresh hen, duck, and goose eggs.

Squirrel Hollow anticipates: a certification for baked goods. This will allow Beth to sell whole grain breads, gluten-free breads, and cakes - all homemade!

The New Bridges are done!

The new Eltham Bridge over the Pamunkey River was dedicated Thursday evening, May 24th. It is just beautiful. We are really looking forward to the improved access in every direction. When you visit the market this Saturday, enjoy the new views and quick trip into town.

Bloomers Fresh Cut Flowers: Robin & Elaine offer a variety of annuals, perennials, herbs, some vegetable starters, water plants, and even a few shrubs.

Bloomers anticipates: Many more varieties of cut flower bouquets




Lowe's Arlington Farms: Early tomatoes, cucumbers, cabbage, late asparagus, lettuce, green peppers, spinach, collard greens, fruit preserves, honey

Lowe's anticipates: string beans, green peas, chard, beets and possibly broccoli.

Squirrel Hollow Farms: Beth Mills offers fresh hen, duck & goose eggs. Also many goat products including soaps and several varieties for cheese, including chevre, cream cheese and feta. The cheese is given away free. Customers are encouraged to offer a reasonable donation for cheese.

Lisa: A new vendor to WPFM, Lisa offers crafts, including colorful handbags, bead necklaces, and key chains made by her kids. She also is offering fresh lemonade and homemade treats.
